So, whats in a name anyway???
Why we aren't called Trillium "Tattoo" Studios.

Trillium?  Yes. A Trillium is a wildflower that
grows mostly in hardwood forests, off the beaten
path, a little out of the way. They grow in
profusion in Lake Placid NY, a place of
significance to us for reasons of long standing
friendships. They are three petaled, three leafed
flowers. Again, significant for, and to, the genesis
of the business a couple of times over.
 Three-fold symmetry.  A Trillium is also a
specialized gemstone cut / design. Many people
are familiar with a "Trilliant", however, few but
facetors are familiar with a "Trillium". This is
significant because we cabochon cut and facet
gemstones as well.

"Studios"?  Yep, there is only one building,
but we have two separate
, completely self
contained procedure rooms, or "studios".
We don't refer to ourselves as a "tattoo shop".
While it is true that tattoos and piercings are our
mainstay, we do much more than that. Our
creativity extends to painting in oils, acrylics and
watercolors. It extends further to building custom
fishing rods that combine artistic flair with
performance excellence, as well as customized
restoration of vintage rods, the likes of which
cannot usually be seen or bought anywhere else.
Our third area of expertise.... three-fold
symmetry , remember? ..... is lapidary art. The
cutting of gemstones. En cabochon, like an opal,
chalcedony, turquoise, chysacolla, chyrsoprase
and agates to faceted stones like sapphires,
chysoberyls, aquamarines, garnets, topaz, smoky
quartz, ruby, tourmalines etc. Some stones we cut
for local jewelers as a repair or custom job, some
for our customers in house, or even teaching
select students the lapidary arts.

Perhaps this all may seem a little weird to
some people....Tattoos & Tackle, Paintings &
Piercings, Rods and Rocks, but I gotta ask.
Why is artistry in various forms and media so
strange together? At least there is a creative
continuity. What WE find strange is that some
folks expect us to sell them a pipe, bong or porn.
What has THAT got to do with art?

Come see us, kick off your shoes (especially if
you plan to put your feet up on our custom hand
carved coffee table) and make yourself at home.
Just don't sit in our lobby watching TV in your
underwear!

See ya soon!
